Beginning our Vegetable Garden

Five raised beds for my first attempt at Vegetable gardening! The hard work of my hubby who slaved with a pick ax to loosen our hard pan earth. The rock pile is home to many small green frogs who have shown their faces this week after a long winter underground. The fence is lined with young lilacs, a patch of raspberries, one honeycomb buddleja and a mock orange tree. These are all so small now, but one day will provide some great privacy and a wildlife refuge.

StrawberriesOnions, "New York Early".
Kohlrabi, my mom slices these up to make sandwiches with butter and salt.
Spinach...I add these young leaves to fruit smoothies.

Warm weather veg in the dining room "greenhouse".
Loads of Basil...

Heirloom Tomatoes, Sweet peas and Portulaca.

The Vegetable garden will also have:
Asian Greens, Chinese broccoli
Beets, Italian Heirloom
Butternut Squash
Carrots, Rainbow blend
Chives
Leeks
Lettuce, Simpson Black seeded
Lettuce, Mesclun Mix
Parsley
Parsnips
Pumpkin, Sugar Pie
Purslane (Ghandi's favorite snack)
