Fried Green Tomatoes

I have finally faced facts that my heirloom tomatoes are not going to ripen before they will rot on the vine. I picked them this morning and thought they are really lovely-can't I eat them somehow? I've been curious about this Southern dish ever since the movie by the same name came out in the eighties. Over 20 years later, today, I made them. They were really, really good.
