The front yard is starting to feel a little bit lush.

A newly weeded back yard!

The roses were fertilized and freshly mulched this morning.

so pretty.

This morning I spied these new fire glow Euphorbia shoots appearing! It's alive!

Bulbs coming up through sedums....I love seeing my vision happen.

These green shoots will be orange daylilies.

Signs of Life on a Sunny day in Seattle

Seems like today brought our first really sunny day in Seattle this year! Signs of life abound...

I threw some bulbs underground here in the middle of winter...I can't remember what they are...but they are coming up!

Jon & I planted this ring of narcissis & tulips together around our pear tree.

The first to bloom of this type of narcissis...love it.

The rose is budding out red.

I thought this honeycomb buddleja was a goner for sure this winter. Just seemed dead. Today it proved me wrong and I am so excited!

A corkscrew willow branch Jon & I stuck in the ground has also survived! This will grown to a 35' tree.

These grasses were gorgeous all winter long.

Quite an early sunny bunch.

Iris nestled behind a rock in the front yard. Hope they bloom this year.

Hydrangeas leafing out.

The red alien like figures under the allium sprouts are leaves of a gorgeous red peony. Unlikely to bloom for a few years since we moved it...but I am happy to see it's growing!

Another one I thought bit the dust this winter has come alive...a pretty Snowbud tree.

Patches of alliums...these are going to knock me out with their blooms in a couple months. Stay tuned.

The heathers in the front yard have turned out to be the purple Erica! These do really well here & I am happy to have them be this variety.

Leafing out near the moss patch is the Dicentra...Bleeding hearts. sigh.

Spring bulbs in a snowy March

I've been excited to see the spring bulbs emerging. All year will likely prove a surprise as plants show me they survived last summer's transplant. Daylilies, Narcissus, Tulips, Allium and Surprise lilies.

Goddesses..teach me how to be so beautiful!

The goddesses of my autumn garden. Mophead Hydrangeas. I couldn't be happier with them.

East Eden

The East garden at the front of the house. I plan to add a lot of spring bulbs to this garden, growing up through sedums that are there year round. They will bloom about the same time as the pink flowering dogwood tree. This young tree may take a few years to bloom though. I will also have Fairie's Wands planted up near the front door. I already planted the dark red peonies to the left of the rock in the photo...they look pretty sad but I don't doubt them for a second. They will be the stars of this garden come June!

Delicious Diablos

Two new robust black shrubs have been added to my garden! These are ninebarks, named Diablo...yum. A housewarming gift from my mom. More like a "thank god this move is over" gift. I'm excited to see how these will work with what is already planted. They look delicous to me, and will provide a good backdrop to anything that blooms pink!
